Mediterranean Tapas to Meze Weekend Cooking Class
$900.00 pp* | Stay tuned for upcoming dates!
I’ve always had a soft spot for this first born cookbook, From Tapas to Meze, and love the robust, assertive flavors that come from this wonderful part of the world. Now that it's become so trendy, I thought it might be fun to teach you how to make some of my favorite recipes from my book, as well as new ones discovered during travels around the Mediterranean in Spain, France, Italy, Morocco, Greece and Turkey.
Mealtime around the Mediterranean is a big part of daily life and small plates (a.k.a." tapas" or "meze") are the perfect way to bring people together. And what better time than now to gather new recipes, just in time for this year's entertaining! If you're ready to add some new flavors and techniques to your repertoire, join me in San Francisco for this special cooking class!
We'll cook our way through the Mediterranean and create some of my favorite small plates like Prawns with Pimenton and Amontillado Sherry, Crepes with Wild Mushrooms and Prosciutto, and Greek Phyllo Pizza with Feta, Mint and Tomatoes. From the Middle East, we’ll make a Pizza with Spiced Lamb and Tomatoes and my assistant Karen’s all-time favorite, a Fattoush Salad. Morocco is our next stop for Merguez Sliders with Spiced Cucumber Yogurt. You’ll even learn how to make your own preserved lemons to toss into a fennel salad and a multitude of other dishes.
Small plates are perfect fare for parties and I'll share tips on preparing a stress-free tapas menu. Join me for this special class and have fun sharing these delicious dishes with family and friends!
About this Mediterranean Cooking Class
In this 2-day course, we'll be cooking in my kitchen studio (the same one that you see on TV!) in San Francisco. Each hands-on cooking class will feature recipes learned during my travels around the Mediterranean and the menus are designed to highlight seasonal ingredients and lots of different cooking techniques. We'll begin by reviewing the recipes, then students will divide into teams and start cooking. I'll work right along with you and show you how to fine-tune your skills and tastebuds. When we're finished, we'll sit down in my spacious dining room and enjoy the fruits of our labor!
You know how I feel about wine so a delicious meal is not complete without the perfect pairing of wine or a cocktail! We’ll taste wines from several regions and discover new flavors with each sip.
Mediterranean Cooking Class Details
Your class will take place in the centrally located Pacific Heights neighborhood of San Francisco and you'll cook in the same kitchen you see on TV! After cooking during the day, you will still have plenty of time to enjoy San Francisco and all of its wonderful sights. We can provide a list of nearby hotels and bed & breakfasts to choose from for your stay, just note that it's quite easy to get around in San Francisco on foot, or by taxi, Uber, or public transportation, so where you choose to stay depends on what you might want to see and do after class each day.
This weekend course costs $900.00 per person. The cost includes hands-on cooking instruction, copies of all recipes, an apron, and a multi-course lunch each class day complete with a cocktail and wine pairings. Full payment for the course must be included with your completed reservation form to secure your reservation. Due to limited availability we cannot provide any refunds for cancellations.
Classes begin at 10 AM and finish at approximately 3 PM. Classes are limited to 10 students so everyone gets lots of personal attention. We recommend wearing closed-toe, rubber-soled shoes and comfortable clothes for the cooking classes.
