Ring in the New Year with Easy Recipes from Wine Country

Hi Friends!

Entertaining friends at home is a great idea-- until about 3 hours before the guests arrive. You know the feeling- all the careful preparation can go out the window when those final moments unfold. Hosts like me start questioning ourselves. Do I have enough food? Will it be ready on time? Will I have time to clean up my mess, throw on a dress, and shake off my stress? But Mom once told me, "Relax. It's just food...and friends". I repeat this mantra every time!

This holiday season, I wanted to share some of my favorite easy and flavorful recipes to give you that extra boost of confidence for your next get-together.  Since I'm in pre-production for my next television series, "Wine Country Cooking", I thought I'd share dishes inspired by the laid-back approach and seasonal ingredients that you'll find throughout wine regions in California and beyond!

Bonus:  These are tried and true dishes that always satisfy my friends while simultaneously allowing me to spend less time fussing and more time enjoying valuable time with people I adore. That's what it's all about, right?

Plus, these recipes may inspire you to host a gathering tonight!

P.S.

Thought you might like to watch an episode of Plates & Places that's filmed with friends at my home in San Francisco. The meal we create is easy to make--provided you can get everyone involved!  Oh, and scroll ahead to see how we prepare the Blood Orange Upside Down Cake.

Fun fact:  this was the final show of season four of the Series, and it was my way of sharing some of my favorite spots in the Bay Area, such as the reknowed Italian deli, Lucca, in the Marina district.  Let me know how you like it!!
