Copita Tequileria y Comida
Copita Tequileria y Comida is a seasonal Mexican restaurant and tequila bar created by Joanne Weir and Larry Mindel. Located in the heart of downtown Sausalito, Copita serves lunch & dinner daily in the dining room, bar, & outdoor patio.
Prior to launching her publishing, television and teaching career, from 1985 to 1990, Joanne worked at Chez Panisse, one of the most acclaimed restaurants in the United States. Joanne’s first book, From Tapas to Meze (Crown, 1994) was selected by Julia Child as one of her 12 personal favorites out of 1000 cookbooks published that year.
Food & Wine Magazine's Kristen Donnelly says: Joanne Weir and Gonzalo Rivera take a lighter approach to Mexican cuisine, often using fruit and vegetables right from the restaurant’s garden. California cooks that they are, they design dishes around their incredible ingredients, for example, showcasing local citrus with avocado in a lime-and-cilantro-dressed salad or crusting Point Reyes oysters simply in polenta before frying and serving with a chile de árbol tartar sauce.
San Francisco Magazine just featured Copita on the cover!
"It all started over a margarita, two to be exact. In 2011, Larry Mindel challenged me to a margarita-making contest. Although I was the clear victor, Larry was inspired by my passion for tequila and love of anything relating to Mexican food, convincing him that I was the perfect business partner. Copita Tequileria y Comida was born May 1, 2012. I’ve never looked back!"
