Imagine crystal blue water breaking against the rocks, bright sunny skies, rolling hills and vineyard after vineyard, baskets of tomatoes, garlic, lemons and eggplant, big bunches of aromatic herbs and lots of peppery olive oil. And of course, toss in the aromas of pesto, pizza and flatbread coming hot out of the oven, grilled lamb and yummy cheeses. Yes, this is the most beautiful part of the world and the best part…. You don’t have to fly to the Mediterranean to enjoy it. This is all happening right here in the beautiful city by the bay - SAN FRANCISCO.
My Trip Around the Mediterranean hands-on cooking course will take us on a weeklong culinary exploration of my absolute favorite gastronomic places in the world: Italy, Provence in Southern France, Spain, Greece and Morocco. Each day, our menu will feature recipes from one of these countries whether it’s Handmade Fresh Spinach Ravioli with Sweet Tomatoes and Basil from Tuscany, Bouillabaisse with Spicy Garlic Mayonnaise and Lemon Soufflé Cakes from the south of France, Spit-Roasted Lamb and Garlic-y Tzatziki from Greece, a huge pan of Paella cooked outdoors, a Six-Vegetable Couscous with Caramelized Onions and Moroccan Tagine and that’s just the beginning! Of course, we’ll use the best local ingredients found in our wonderful farmers market in San Francisco. And I have invited some incredible winemakers, importers and experts to join us in pairing delicious wines with the sit-down lunch you prepared!
If you only have a weekend to spare, everyone is always asking me to teach a class about sauces. Here it is! Your weekend crash course called Sauce Camp Weekend. This is another hands-on class where you’ll learn how to prepare tons of sauces: sweet and savory, chilled and warm, whipped and chopped. We start on Friday night and end Sunday afternoon. You’ll go home with lots of new easy-to-do, no brainer sauce recipes that will definitely increase your cooking repertoire.
My Trip Around the Mediterranean and Sauce Camp courses are limited to 10 students. This allows me to work one-on-one with everyone and gives you a chance to learn and make lots of recipes working with me during the course. And you’ll have plenty of time to explore San Francisco. Another bonus… All of you will receive a fantastic gift of a piece of cookware from Le Creuset.
And if you’re eager to take advantage of the falling Euro, love to cook, drink great wine and want to spend a week with me doing all of the above, there are a couple of spaces left on my Culinary Journey to Tuscany this fall. The trip to Provence is sold out!
Can’t wait to see you in San Francisco!
